This award recognizes the Detachment regular member whose outstanding efforts have most significantly contributed to the achievement of Detachment objectives and programs, who has set an example for members, and whose efforts have significantly enhanced the ideals set forth as a Marine.
This award, presented at the Marine Corps Birthday Ball, consists of the Distinguished Citizen Medal with FMF device, certificate and the engraved MCL plaque, “Presented for Extraordinary Service Above and Beyond the Call of Duty.”

This award, presented at the Marine Corps Birthday Ball, consists of the Distinguished Citizen Medal, certificate and an engraved plaque, “Presented for Extraordinary Service Above and Beyond the Call of Duty.
Former World War 2 Marine Raider and member of 4th MarDiv, lived in Camarillo. He died in the late 1980’s of cancer. The Color Guard rifles are from Frank’s collection.
This award recognizes a Detachment regular member, for the qualities of integrity, concern and assistance to others, leadership in citizenship and patriotism, demonstrated support of Detachment programs and objectives, and characterizes the example of late Detachment member Frank J. Aerts.
This award, presented at the Marine Corps Birthday Ball, consists of the Distinguished Citizen Medal with two (2) Oak Leaf Cluster devices, certificate and an engraved plaque.
“Foster L. Cheateaux was highly decorated in the Vietnam War, as a helicopter gunner. He suffered head injuries while in combat which eventually resulted in a brain tumor. He died from the effects of these injuries before he could be sworn in as a charter member. The Detachment proudly added him to the Charter.”
This award recognizes achievement by a Detachment regular or associate member for excellence in performance of duties, and for contribution to Detachment programs beyond expectations.

This Detachment Award is made to the Marine, Associate Member, or community citizen who performs an act of heroism. The award will be made to the individual, who in the opinion of the Awards Committee, has answered the call of duty “Above and Beyond” the principles upon which the Marine Corps League was founded. Recommendations for this award must be made in writing to the detachment Awards Committee. The Awards Committee reviews the recommendation. If, in the opinion of the Awards Committee, the individual qualifies for the award; the individual is then recommended to the Detachment Board for final approval. The award may be presented at any time throughout the year when appropriate.
The award consists of the Distinguished Citizen Medal (Bronze), the Distinguished Citizen “right to wear” Certificate and an engraved plaque. If the act of heroism involved great personal risk of injury or death to the recipient, the notation “at great personal risk” is to be incorporated on the certificate and plaque.
This award is made to community citizens and Detachment regular and associate members who have assisted others in need, and promoted values of citizenship and patriotism.

This award recognizes those special Detachment regular members that have worked through the years for the good of the Detachment. Further, this award recognizes the Detachment member who has a significant positive impact on the Detachment, its programs and members; who has consistently, through the years, made selfless efforts beyond expectations.
The selection is made by the Awards Committee with approval of the Board.
The award, presented at the Marine Corps Birthday Ball, consists of the Detachment Distinguished Service Medal with Hourglass device, certificate and engraved plaque.
This award was originally named the Darrell S. Tipples Memorial Award. It was named after Don’s son who died in an OV-10 crash while on active duty with the marines. Don was instrumental to the early success of this detachment and remained an active member right up until his death in Feb. 2007. The award was subsequently renamed to honor both father and son, both Marines.
This award is made to a Detachment regular member for demonstrating unquestionable integrity and dependability, sets and achieves challenging goals, is a determined motivator and leader who relishes life while making the most of the assets at his disposal. He must be proud to be a Marine and practices the special values of being a Marine.

This award is to be awarded to a MCL member who in the opinion of the awarding Commandant has exemplified him or herself in their communities, including VAVS, but not necessarily both, helping all they have come in contact with.
The award, presented at the annual Christmas party, consists of MCL Community/VAVS Service Medal and certificate.
This award is presented to Detachment members who have exemplified themselves within the detachment; and who have contributed through time and effort to the full objectives of the detachment above and beyond that expected.
The selection is made by the Detachment Commandant with approval of the Board.
The award, presented at the annual Christmas party, consists of the Meritorious Individual Commendation Medal and certificate.
The term attributed to the Marine Corps by the Chinese meaning “working in harmony” ascribes this award recognizing outside organizations or individuals in the community who have assisted and supported Detachment activities.

This award is presented to those members who significantly assisted with the Toys-For-Tots campaign for the prior fiscal year. These members contributed by manning barrels at various collection points; attending a variety of functions where toys were collected; assisting with the pick-up and the distribution of toys; and assisting in the purchase of special toys and ancillary items.
This award, presented with the “mandated awards” at the fiscal year-end award ceremony, consists of a certificate.
